A room where the only way forward is to do nothing. While you are still, a line comes up on the paper and fades again. Around it, an egg rolls out of its carton toward the edge of the desk, a picture goes crooked, a phone rings, a jug tips into a cup, a sheet drifts over a flame, rain comes in at the window. You can reach for any of them: drag the bowl or the book into the egg's way, pick the egg up, straighten the picture, answer the phone, right the jug, pinch the flame, shut the window. Every time you do, the line starts over. Left alone, things happen, and nothing comes of it.
